P-Cube Introduces a Compact, Cost-Effective LPFM Bandpass Filter
P-Cube, Inc’s new, compact, low-power FM bandpass filter is a cost-effective solution for power levels up to 500W and is ideally suited to low-power FM transmitters and translators. The filter is band tunable and is normally used for single filter applications. However, like all P-Cube bandpass filters, it can be integrated into combining modules for multi-station applications. This filter is the lowest power unit in a family of P-Cube FM bandpass filters up to, and including, a power level of 25 kW average power. The 4-section model of this filter, with non-adjacent coupling, is the preferred choice when closely spaced interference signals are present.

Quick-Disconnect Patch Panels P-CUBE‘s line of quick-disconnect patch panels offers a cost-effective and speedy method of swapping connections in a high-power RF system. These units are available in 3- through 7-port panels as standard units with coaxial sizes of 1-5/8” up to, and including, 4-1/16”. Any and all switching arrangements can be interlocked for safety. These interlocks are activated as the first step in performing a switching procedure, thus ensuring maximum safety in high-power applications. The units operate with extremely low VSWR and 100% power-rating for a given line size.
5kW FM Bandpass Filter P-CUBE’s line of FM filters has power ranges from 500W up to, and including, 25kW average power. The backbone of this line are 3-section and 4-section designs. We offer other configurations for special situations. The 3-section models are commonly used where any spurious signals are spaced more than 1MHz away from the transmitter signal. The 4-section models have an adjustable, non-adjacent coupling which allows band-reject-like notches to be created on either side of, and close to, the pass band. These filters are tunable over the entire FM band.
UHF π/2 Hybrid P-CUBE’s line of UHF π/2 single-section hybrids is available in both cross-over and in-line configurations. The port sizes are 1-5/8”, 3-1/8”, and 4-1/16”, with a no-flange-connection model possible. Mixed port sizes can be provided. The units are generally broad-banded for the entire UHF band. Narrow-band tuning is available to optimize performance for any portion of the band. When performance over and above the theoretical ability of a single-section unit is required, P-Cube’s three-section hybrids are an option.
UHF Mask Filter P-CUBE’s 8-section, UHF filter is a tunable, air-cooled coaxial filter. The unit is designed for average power of 1.2kW and meets the critical-mask requirements for both DVB-T and ISDB-T. The filter has complete temperature compensation for frequency stability over a normal range of ambient temperatures and changing power levels. Non-adjacent couplings in the design enable the unit to meet the stringent requirements of the critical mask. The cooling is by natural air convection under most environmental conditions.
Coaxial Adaptors P-CUBE’s family of coaxial adaptors are used to change from rigid coax to flexible cable. The rigid line ranges from 7/8” to 6-1/8”, in both EIA and no-flange. Male and female connectors are available as Type N or DIN 7/16. These units are low VSWR, typically 1.03:1 up to 1GHz. Either aluminum or brass construction is available as a pressurized or non-pressurized unit.
5-Channel FM Combiner P-CUBE’s multi-station FM combiners are custom designed. The basic building blocks for these multiplexers are the wide range of bandpass filters built by P-CUBE for power levels of 500W up to, and including, 25kW average power. These units are combined with π/2 hybrids for constant impedance assemblies or with simple T- junctions. The accompanying photograph shows a 5-channel combiner using a mix of constant impedance modules and common junction modules. Here, five different FM stations radiate from a single broadband antenna.
